My Best Anthems!

Привет! Salut! Howzit!

Today I happen to be Russian, French and South African all at once! <Cause I’m cool like that, <_< >

You know when you’re watching a youtube video and the next thing you’re asking yourself is how/why you ended up watching some cat/kids or random videos well that’s how I stumbled upon my top three national anthems! So I thought to share them with you! They’re the French, Russian and South African anthems!

I wish I was french just to have this as my anthem hahaha. It’s officially called “La Marseillaise” and it’s amazing. Here’s a link, La Marseillaise. In my opinion, this is the best National Anthem in the world. It was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg. This was after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled “Chant de guerre pour l’Armée du Rhin” (“War Song for the Rhine Army”). If you’d like to know more about the anthem here’s the wiki link page La Marseillaise.

The musical composition  and lyrics of the “State Anthem Of The Russian Federation” were adopted from the National Anthem of the Soviet Union. It was composed by Alexander Alexandrov with lyricists Sergey Mikhalkov and Gabriel El-Registan. Here are two links, this link has english subtitles Russian Anthem and this one is from the Sochi Olympics 2014 Russian Anthem. If you’d like to know more about the history behind the anthem here’s a like to the wiki page, National Anthem Of Russia

And of course the South African Anthem, Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika (God Bless Africa). It was composed by Enoch Sontonga and has been the anthem since 1994. Here’s a link Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika. He based the melody on the hymn tune “Aberystwyth” by Joseph Parry. The words of the first stanza and chorus were originally written in Xhosa <a South African language> as a hymn. Here’s a wiki link if you’d like to read more about it, Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika.

Well those are my top three national anthems! What are yours? I’d like to hear them ^^
